Yes, it's about to get Grimm up north - our latest film, Rumpelstiltskin, is headed to Frightfest as part of the Glasgow Film Festival 2025. We're the closing film on Saturday 8th of March. Passes go on sale from the 17th of January with single tickets available soon after.
Rumpelstiltskin tells the story of one of the scariest villains from our collective childhoods - and this time the haunting tale just got even darker, as we re-imagine it as a medieval folk-horror nightmare.
The film stars Hannah Baxter-Eve (Escape), Adrian Bouchet (Those About To Die, The Last Kingdom, The Wheel of Time), Jennifer Lim (Hostel, A Monster Calls) with Joss Carter (Tarot) as the creature.
Written and directed by Andy Edwards (Punch, Cinderella's Revenge) and co-produced by Andy and Rebecca J Matthews (The Monster Beneath Us) for Paranoid Android Films.
Andy says, "Fairy-tale horror films are obviously big at the moment - I even directed one myself recently (Cinderella's Revenge). But I wanted to do something a little different with this one, and instead of taking a cute character and making them evil, I took a character that was pretty twisted already, to create a medieval folk-horror direct from the nightmare world of the Brothers Grimm. Rumpelstiltskin was always a character that creeped me out as a child, and he creeped me out when reading the story to my own kid - now he's coming to creep everyone out!"
