7th January 2013

A quick round-up for you of what we’re up to, and what our plans are for 2013. If it helps, you can imagine it in the style of those pointless “celebrity news” segments they have on BBC3 or ITV2 with a scrolling ticker, pounding music and lobotomised presenters.

Our long awaited Houseparty of the Dead feature film has been staggering round the pits of Development Hell for the last two years, but 2013 looks like it will be the year it crawls groaning and grasping out into the big wide world. This is gonna be big, but we’ll give you more information as soon as we can…

Also on the agenda is the filming of Monster which is our section of Blaze of Gory, a new horror anthology feature, with one unique writer and nine directors from around the world contributing. The whole project is pretty dark – even by our standards – so for those fans of “sick shit”, there should be plenty to get your rocks off too. We’re gonna be shooting that early in 2013 so keep an eye out for cast & crew calls.

Talking of anthologies, the double award-winning Three’s A Shroud, which features our segments The Time Traveller’s Knife as well as the film-within-a-film, Night of the Pouting Dead, has been picked up for distribution by Trash House Cinema. We’ll let you know as soon as it’s available to buy on Blu Ray/DVD/VOD/VHS (but not the torrents, oh no!)

Sadly, our first Kickstarter attempt for our Iain Banks adaptation, Piece, didn’t reach the required level of funding. To do the original story justice, we need some very specific locations and production design elements – none of which come cheap – hence the all-or-nothing approach we had to go for on Kickstarter. We did get over 80 backers from around the world pledging around $8,000 though, which was a great response and we’d like to thank everyone who pledged. We’ve learnt some lessons on what makes a successful crowdfunding campaign from the experience, and we’ve still got Iain Banks, Sean Pertwee and some great young actors on board, so we’ll be making another fundraising attempt later in the year.

As for the commercial side of things, we have a Valentines app video in the works for Think Tall Films, after the success of our Christmas one which got over 80,000 views on YouTube.

Apart from all that, we have some more feature & short scripts on the go, and lots of exciting photoshoots planned.

If you’d like to get involved in any of that, well don’t just sit there, get in touch!
